Our Community: Broad Ripple
We love our neighbors! Here you can learn about where we are, who our neighbors are, and how we connect with them.
The Broad Ripple and SoBro (South Broad Ripple) area are quickly changing communities with many new faces and a rich history. Broad Ripple Village was founded along the White River in 1836 and grew up along the Canal which was built a year later. In 1922 the town of Broad Ripple was annexed by Indianapolis (BroadRippleHistory.org) As Broad Ripple continued to be an important part of Indianapolis, it became home to iconic fixtures such as the Vogue Theater and Monon Trail. Today Broad Ripple continues to grow and change. It remains a rich center for music, arts, education, food, and community engagement.
